COST Action “Urban Forestry Network” (INTUF) launches an open call for 7 Virtual Mobility Grants (VMGs). The call is open for anyone with expertise in the field of urban forestry, especially for members that are actively participating in the INTUF Action to conduct a project beneficial to the different tasks and working groups (see proposed topics below).
The call opens on May 11th, 2026, and the application period closes on May 25th, 2026. Decision will be notified by June 1st, 2026.
How to apply
Applications for a VMG need to be sent via the e-cost portal https://e-services.cost.eu/activity/grants
Applicants must have or create an e-COST profile.
In the grants page, make sure to select the option VMG and later the INTUF project with the code CA 23148.
Reporting
Once the activity has ended, the grantee must submit the required reports and relevant documentation in e-COST within 30 days after the end date of the activity or 15 days after the end of the Grant Period, whichever date comes first. The grant payment will be executed after the approval of the report by the Grant Awarding Coordinators and the Leader(s) of the VMG.

TOPIC 1 (Supports WG1 T2): Screening urban forest key performance indicators.
Focus: support the critical review and selection of KPIs and associated delivery methodologies in support of WG1 Task 2 activities. Engage with other Topic holders, Task and WG leaders for complementarity in approach; Coordinate engagement with WG1 members and relevant stakeholders; Prepare structured and anonymised descriptive outputs (response summaries, basic statistics) for collective interpretation by WG1.

TOPIC 2 (Supports WG2-T4): Harmonising content and structure for interview of municipalities.
Focus: support WG2 in coordinating and executing personal semistructured interviews; prepare translations of interview script and results; prepare structured and anonymised descriptive outputs (response summaries, basic statistics) for collective interpretation by WG2. It will be valued a candidate with experience in qualitative data analysis and fluent in several languages.

TOPIC 3 (Supports WG2-T3 and T5): Ensuring arboriculture engagement within the INTUF COST Action’s WG2
Focus: identify arboricultural sectors that are not represented in the INTUF COST Action for engagement; coordinate with tasks 3 and 5 to translate (if necessary) and distribute surveys aimed at arboriculture professionals and networks; prepare structured and anonymized descriptive outputs (response summaries, basic statistics) for collective interpretation by WG2.

TOPIC 4 (Supports WG3-T2): Public participation in urban forestry
Focus: support the data collection, selection and analysis of examples of urban forest public participation; Prepare a structured and anonymised descriptive output (response summaries, basic statistics) for collective interpretation by WG3 and the wider INTUF members and in the framework for adopting active public participation in urban forestry governance.

TOPIC 5 (Supports WG3-T3): Municipalities, private land stewardship and urban forest management
Focus: : Support in the organization of a survey on urban forest management and private land stewardship for European municipal authorities: collect translations of the questionnaire from COST Action members and upload them to EUSurvey; assist in organizing the distribution of the survey in each country; collect data, analyse descriptive statistics, and present the results in a short report. Provide analysis and a summary of the results for use by WG3 in INTUF reporting.
